Thanks to Darek for asking me to partake in this meme-age for tunes. I had to give this all a lot of thought as my brain was just frozen by the Slurpee I slurped way too fast for the good of the cells that make up said brain, but here it goes.
Tunes:
1. Song that sounds like happy feels:
I’m on a High Duncan Sheik
No video that I recall ever seeing, but I’ve seen him do this live. Front row right in front of his mike. I was looking up at him and could see right up his nose I was so close. He’s very cute too for a petite man.
2. Earliest memory:
Humble Pie. My dad went over seas for what seemed like a year. He came back with all these vinyl imports (back then they were just records lol). Humble Pie was one of them, which surprised me since I thought he was strickly a Sinatra kinda guy at the time.
3. Last CD you bought:
Madeline Peryroux
4. Reminds you of school:
Elementary School
Hmmm…hard to say. I wasn’t into buying my own music so I relied on my older cousins for music to listen to. Slave, Earth, Wind & Fire, Parliament, Funkadelic, Santana...
High School
To study vocal techique, Teena Marie, Anita Baker, Cherelle & Annie Lennox. For fun, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Crowded House, Teena Marie, The Cure, Bowie, EWF, The Gap Band, Genesis, Toto, Kate Bush, Kool & the Gang, Talking Heads, Missing Persons, The Police, Tears for Fears, Prince, Sade, Squeeze, Soul II Soul, Steely Dan, Steve Winwood...how long is this supposed to be?
College
Anita Baker. I was gigging a lot and while trying to find my own sound I studied a lot of the big female singers of the day. I would spend hours listening to how she enuciated or (no enuciate) each note…I dug her because even when she was singing about being in love she still sounded pained. Like how really being in love is. It was a comospolitan sounding blues to me.
5. Total music files on your PC: 3 GB. Is that a lot? Probably not…I don’t know. lol
6. For listening to repeatedly when depressed:
Magnolia, The Soundtrack – I have to use the same answer as Darek. Cause Hello. It’s Aimee Mann. Enough said.
7. Sounds british, but isn't:
Hmmm…I can’t think of one I suck! The only groups I can think of at the moment that sound British are British. Blehhh!
8. Tune you love, band you hate:
Can’t answer this one since if I hate a band I will never listen to anything they put out long enough to fall in love with it.
9. A favorite from the past that took ages to track down:
Actually, I have a lot from the past that I need to track down. I lost a lot of cd’s during the divorce of 2002-2003 and have not yet began started to replace what was lost.
10. Bought the album for one good song:
Nope I’ve never bought and album for one good song. Especially now a days, if it’s a song I must have but the rest of the album sucks, I’ll ask someone else to send me a copy of the song.
jku's addition to this quiz is:
11. Worst Song to Get Stuck in your Head:
â€Copacabana†– Barry Manilow
